Description
Course Description:
AIA = 1 HSW LU, GBCI = Self report
From natural building materials and modular construction to 3D-printed homes, the building industry continues to embrace emerging technologies and innovative construction techniques. In this seminar, speakers will share real-world successes and challenges they have encountered while implementing these game-changing methods.
• AEGB staff will report your 1 AIA Learning Units (HSW/LUs).
• Self report your GBCI CEUs.
• You can find your certificates in the “My Certificates” under the profile menu.
• Email the certificate to your AEGB representative if you are taking this course for a rating measure.
• Email greenbuilding@austinenergy.com if you need assistance.
Learning Objectives:
• Evaluate the unique features of 3D-printed construction, particularly its ability to rapidly deploy housing stock for unhoused people who are at risk of deteriorating health due to being unhoused.
• Identify common elements shared by modular and traditional site-built techniques
• Apply design strategies that integrate with both 3D-printed and modular construction, including indoor environmental quality considerations such as daylighting and acoustics, which affect occupant welfare
• Determine when 3D-printed or modular methods are most advantageous based on site conditions, such as infill construction, which provides benefits to occupants in neighboring buildings through reduced noise and air quality disturbance during the construction process.
