Course Description:

The City of Austin adopted the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) with local amendments in the fall of 2021. In this course, the Austin Energy Green Building reviews the significant changes to the 2021 IECC and local amendments.

In this on-demand course, the speakers explore how design teams can navigate various paths of compliance and use partnerships to help their clients in the field. Development Services Department representatives provided additional updates and potential real-world scenarios resulting from recent code changes.

Learning Objectives:
• Identify major differences between the 2015 and 2021 IECC, specifically changes to the local
amendments.
• Understand what the energy code is and how it supports community resilience.
• Discover how to propose ideas and provide comments through the new standard energy code
development process.
• Explore ways to prevent field compliance issues through collaborations with energy code testers and
building raters.

Course Length:
The entire course takes about 2 hours to complete. You can start and stop as needed throughout the course.
